Germany developed several successful schwerer Panzerspahwagen, or heavy armored reconnaissance vehicles, to aid its forces. A family of vehicles was based on the Sd.Kfz.231 8-Rad design. Ordered in 1934, it featured an 8-wheel drive and steering chassis by Bussing-NAG, offering excellent cross-country mobility. Dual driver controls allowed rapid maneuvering under attack. Produced from 1936 to May 1942, 607 vehicles were made, including related Sd.Kfz.232 models. The Sd.Kfz.231 had a hexagonal turret with a 2cm KwK 30 cannon and one MG34 machine gun. Models are delivered unpainted and require some assembly.
